Busy Day

So my Podiatrist is a rockstar and when I went to my appointment at 8:45 this morning he said that the divet on my foot is a cyst and not Avascular Necrosis. Which is a good thing. So he had me go and get another X-ray on my left foot to double check if anything has changed since my last one was over a month ago. He ALSO said that he can squeeze me in on the 17th for my surgery.

After the appointment I went and had some blood-work done, then a CT of my kidneys and bladder (Which by-the-way when you get a CT with contrast it totally feels like you peed yourself! But I promise I didn't because I checked afterward), and finally another X-ray on my left foot. I have a per-surgical physical on Monday morning and then a pre-admittanace meeting at the hospital sometime next week. After that I don't really know.

The doc did say that he still wants to do surgery on my cyst but it can wait.

I went to my podiatry appointment yesterday to see if the pain in my right food was bad enough to delay the surgery or if it was just superficial pain and it was going to okay to walk on it for two months while I recover my Taylor's Bunyon surgery on my left foot.

The doctor said that it appears to be avascular nephritis meaning due to lack of blood flow in my right food the end of my 1st metatarsal (big toe joint) is starting to deteriorate and crumble. He said that this is pretty rare since it usually happens in the ankle and not the foot. So of course instead of scheduling my surgery he ordered an MRI on my foot plus some blood work to make sure my kidneys and liver and all my other internal organs are working enough to withstand a surgery.

I then told him I was getting a CT on my kidneys on Friday and that worried him a little so he cancelled the MRI with contrast and just ordered a regular MRI.

Whats in store for me this week is to schedule my MRI before Friday (cross your fingers they have a slot open) then get some blood work for my Urologist, then go to see my Podiatrist Friday morning then off to get my CT Friday afternoon.

I really hope that this turns out okay and that there is nothing to worry about (at least pertaining to my kidneys) I know that the prognosis for my foot is pretty bad but he said that he will most likely NOT do surgery on my left foot bunion. But do surgery on my right foot and most likely do a bone graft to fix the missing chunk on the end of my metatarsal.

This is serisouly crazy! I feel like I am 85!

Urology and Other Interesting Topics

I know not very many people read this blog so I am not too concerned with telling the masses about this. But I do need to write this down for my own sanity.

If you know me well enough then you know that ever since I have been married I have had a problem with Urinary Tract infections and all that goes with them.

What I mean is the first year I was married, I was peeing blood and then on antibiotics about 8 times. The second year was not too bad with about 5, the third year was WAY worse with about 13 times, 4th year about 8 times and now this year about every other month. So if you think about that THAT is A TON of antibiotics. Then to top it all off I am going to other antibiotics for other issues like BV, Strep Throat, AND C Diff. The last being cause BY taking so many antibiotics!

So you see why this last time when I went into my doctor, I DID NOT want any antibiotics. So, they said okay we will refer you a Urologist and give you none. (THis was the 9th doctor I have seen for this problem and they are the ONLY ones that have referred me to a specialty with what is ACTUALLY wrong with me)

So now I come to the present
The week waiting for my urology appointment, my kidneys started hurting really bad. I thought it was a kidney stone so I waited for the pain to worsen but it never did. Then the next day the other one started hurting. By then it was the weekend and my doctors office was not open. So I waited the whole weekend. By Monday both kidneys hurt and my bladder was killing me! I was also experiencing anorexia (which just means loss of apetite), nausea, and bloating... lots and lots of bloating. So I called my doctor and they said to come in right away so they could give me some antibiotics. Well guess what happened... Devy got really sick and so I ended up cancelling my appointment to make it to hers.

So I waited the extra day:
I went to my Urology appointment and they took a urine dip and sent it out to two different labs. They said that it definitely looks like I have an infection but they need to culture it to see what antibiotic will work on it the best. So that is what that is. Then they are sending it out for abnormal cell cultures to see if there is any damage to the lining of my bladder from all this inflammation. Also it will be to look for cancerous cells.

After all that the resident that I needed to get a cystoscopy to see inside of my bladder to rule out anything else. And that was all on Tuesday. So I made the appointment for Friday and left it at that.

Today I got a call from the resident who said that after the doctor had reviewed my past history she decided to postpone my cystoscopy and she wanted me to get a catscan of my bladder and kidneys and get some blood work done. So I had to move my cystoscopy to March 9th and I will hopefully get my CT done before my foot surgery on the 17th. So that is that and yeah...

I am trying to stay calm in this whole process and try to get stuff done around my house. But it is really hard to when the moment I walk up and down the stairs a few times my kidneys and bladder start hurting. I really hope there isn't permanent damage but I guess I cant change anything if there is. I am trying to keep the over-reaction queen at bay and just focus on keeping my house clean and my kids fed (which I am failing horribly at by-the-way... well the house cleaning... my kids are fed. lol)

We literally went trick-or-treating for 45 minutes and we made out like bandits. Everyone here lives in row homes and sits out on thier front porches so it goes SO quickly. It was really nice. Also this year it was really warm so that made it enjoyable to go.

After we got home and dropped Luke off, Devy asked to go again... So, we did. ha ha. It was 8:30 and she was so tired but we were both having so much fun I couldn't say no. So we went to a wealthy neighborhood and got some awesome king size candy bars and coupons for free kids meals at Applebees. I think that we need to make some friends with these outrageously wealthy people...

So my sister and I had a conversation on facebook about my recent endeavors in this city fo "Brotherly Love" and instead of relaying to everyone the same story, here it is:(It is written for her so just ignore whatever you don't understand or ask me to clarify which is good too)lol... yeah. No big deal though. Yelling fights are a regular sight in Philly. It just sounds crazy when you don't live here. He was the drunk. He backed into my car right in front of me and then told me it wasn't a big deal... Then told me it wasn't as bad as when we blocked his car in in the parking lot for 6 days when we first moved here...He keeps bringing this up and how Lance and I have questionable parenting ethics since we hold our children upside down.So I lost it on him. Talking to my neighbors, they were just waiting for it to happen. They thought I was being a push-over by not "standing up for myself" when we would say things like that to me. (because I was trying to keep the peace of course and just get him to stop talking to me)Anywho, he said that he isn't crazy because he remembers seeing our license plates and that it was definitely our car blocking him in.(which he brings up EVERYTIME he sees me! Just let it go!) (I mean seriously I don't bring up that I can literally smell the drugs that you are doing wafting from your freaking house!)So, I said that that wasn't true because we didn't even know there was a parking lot up there till we had lived here over a month. So of course he called me a liar and then brought up how we were bad parents.So... I started getting a little frustrated. And we started yelling at each other. Then I realized what I was doing and stopped yelling and let him finish whatever drunken tyrant he was on.He started walking toward me trying to be funny and said "So you wanna duke this out or something?" So I said "Yeah let me go get my 250 pound husband and he will show you how it is"We started yelling again and thenHe then finished with how we are bad parents so then I really lost it and said "NO THAT WAS ME WHO HELD OUR SON UPSIDE DOWN and I will do it again! And YOU walked toward ME and threatened to punch ME in the neck!"And then he backed down after that when he realized that it was me that he threatened and not Lance.I kept saying "Just stop and go inside your house, you don't know what you are talking about and I am sick of talking to you. You are done, go inside now John." And he replied with (in a whining voice non-the-less) "I don't wanna go inside" (this man is 47 years old)To finish, he tried to make nice and apologize and act sad that I don't like him. (which he does this EVERY time he sees me and then tries to make up for it by saying has anyone told you how hot you are?) So I am used to this now and I usually just play along to get him to go away quicker. But his time I didn't care and I just ignored him and then told him that his questions don't matter. He asked me what my kids names were (which he has done about 100 times) so I told him they were Lucy and Ben. So the rest of the night my neighbors called my kids Lucy and Ben because they thought that was hilarious.This all happened in front of 9 kids and 5 other adults. They just stood there and let it happen. I was talking to one of my friends and she said that she was actually waiting for me to choke up and give up on the fight and she was getting ready to finish it for me. Evidently my neighbors are "proud" of me now... I don't get it but whatever. I guess it is another one of those initiation things...

For Devy's birthday I made a Dora the Explorer cake. It was my first fun cake I ever made. I learned a lot and now know what not and what to do the next go around. I will definitely start a day ahead of time so I don't waste a whole day that we should be having fun instead of making a dang cake. She loved it in the end and we had fun sharing it with our neighbors.

My amazing daughter turned three this month! I cannot believe it! I have been a mother for THREE YEARS!! I mean COME ON! This is seriously incredible.

I love this amazing little girl. She is so full of life! Everything is a game. I love that when I wake up every morning that there will be a cute little blonde running up to me to give me supper lovies and tell me that she loves me so much and then that she needs breakfast. Getting dressed and going to bed and brushing teeth are all games. She loves her little brother! She is her main man second only to her Dadder.

Devy is always saying crazy things that make me laugh until it hurts. Like "Mom Jesus dies but then he was ected" While in the middle of playing at a public park. Or pointing to a man with a hoodie on saying "Hey mom look Jesus!" Or every big building with is a Temple and she is ALWAYS pointing them out.

She is also OBSESSED with having babies. Every day I am asked if I am pregnant. Now though it is more of when is she going to be pregnant. Which has also led to interesting conversations about going to college and marrying a nice returned missionary in the Temple and THEN having a baby a couple of years after... She tells me all the time that she is going to the temple and getting married to her husband. OH DEAR.

Her best friend right now is a little boy named Alex. He is so dang cute. He is a month younger than Devy and the sweetest little boy ever. We have fun playing with them outside on the sidewalk. She also has a couple of twin girl friends that are super nice.

Devy loves playing with ANIMALS! She got a farm for her birthday and has played with it EVER SINCE. She is ALL about role play. Sometimes I pretend like I am busy but I just stop and listen to her little drama stories that go on between her little farm animals.

Role play is the new game. Anything is a toy. We were eating lunch the other day and had fresh peas in the pod and those turned into a few friends going to the park and learning how to share their toys. She is always being a mommy to them and excising her motherly duties of making her toys share or go to time out if they hit mommy.

She is so smart and kind. She is really getting into helping me and loves to help me get stuff if I am stuck and need help. I love that she understands life now and how to communicate a little better. She is AMAZING at talking. I love when she messes up her tenses because I happens infrequently that I cant bring myself to correct her because it is so dang cute.

The move has been kind of crazy. But we will survive. We have a friend living with us right now so I cant completely unpack my house for another couple of weeks. If you have had boxes all over your house before and you can do nothing about it, it gets kind of frustrating. All in all though I am glad to help someone in need because I know I would appreciate it if someone did it for us.

I tried to go to center city last week but I got really overwhelmed by the traffic and the no parking so I drove around for 30 minutes and then told my GPS to take us home... lol

I did go and buy a membership to the Please Touch Museum. I heard that it was awesome for the kids and that you can spend hours in it. So we are excited to do that.

We also have a little fenced in back yard, except the people before us didn't take care of it, so it is all over grown. And so I broke down again and bought a week whacker so we can actually play in the back yard.

And another one was we bought a laptop since Lance accidently left the Ipod in the back of a taxi and I had no connection to the internet. You don't realize how much you rely on it until it is gone. HOpefully this spending will not become a habit since living in this huge city is already expensive enough.

Wish me luck and hope that I don't get mugged.

PS oh yeah and there is literally no parking on our street so I have to walk 5 blocks to park the dang car... I cant believe I complained about walking 100 feet to get to our garage... lol I dont know if I will even leave the house in the winter time. As it is, I wait till the weekend to run errands with Lance since it is easier to handle two kids and all that walking around with two parents to two kids instead of one.

I can't believe My son is one year old! This year has really gone by. He is so dag cute! I just want to squeeze him EVERY DAY! He is the happiest baby EVER! Everything is so funny to him. He is the BIGGEST flirt. He can say NO, Mama, dada, devy, stop it, go away, thank you (my personal favorite more like dey due but he definitely says it). He likes to walk around bent forward with his arms stretched out back (my fault I showed him that), He is SOOOOOO patient! He will sit and figure something out until he does and never gets frustrated... I love it. I swear my one year old has more patience than I do. He loves to walk and put on shoes. He LOVES is daddys shoes and tries to put them on multiple times a day. Luke LOVES to climb; he as been a climber since 9 months. He has climbed onto the back to the toilet and up a crazy scary ladder. He has NO fear. He is ALWAYS falling and bumping his cute little noggin so therefore ALWAYS has a bruise somewhere on his head. (Today his tooth punctured his lip) I can get enough of this guy. He LOVES his mamma (which I can't complain) He LOVES nursery (even though he is too young he just goes right in and doesn't even look back; which is amazing because he kind of has separation anxiety)

So excited that life is moving on for us. There was a time there for a long time that we were so depressed that our lives were over as we knew it.

I will have to say that when you have a dream and it is coming true, you tend to get a little attached to it. But when all-of-a-sudden it gets ripped out of your hands for now fault of your own or those around you, what do you do?

Do you get angry and get even? Do you scream at the heavens? Do you crawl into a hole and curse the world? Do you go into survival mode and become a zombie until it is all over? Or do you take the high road, put on your working shoes and change your plans?

Well I can say I have done a little of all of these. I have to truly admit that I felt every single one of these emotions. However, in the end I feel good. I truly felt that we were going to be okay, I just had to wait and wait and wait. That was it.

I had to get up every morning and put on my working shoes and be a mother, wife, housekeeper, entertainer, lover, and friend. How does one do this you ask?

Truthfully, I didn't do this every day. There were a lot of days I just vegged. I couldn't find the emotional energy to get off the couch and live. I basically did the basics... I got up fed my children, changed thier clothes, brushed their teeth, fed them again, and then again and then put them to bed.

But after a while I started adding things to do to my day. Hey why not go outside? Go for a walk? play a game? Be a friend? Sure but these were still HUGE struggles.

However, guess what!!! After MONTHS of prayer and fasting and prayer and crying and prayer and fasting and prayer and screaming and prayer and fasting and crying... and then prayer again, our prayers were answered.

The Lord works in mysterious ways people... SERIOUSLY!
We were planning on moving to Oregon, and trying to pick of the few pieces of our hoped-for professional life and figure out how to pay 100K back with two bachelor's degrees and half of a med school degree. (Pretty daunting I have to admit)

But within TWO DAYS Lance was in a dang school and a pretty good one at that!

We had NO IDEA

All I can say is thank you to my Heavenly Father. Thank you for seeing what I could not and softening the hearts that we could not. My faith in my Savior has increased 10fold and I cannot express the love and admiration for the sacrifice that those around me have made on my behalf. I love my Savior, my family and my friends. I thank you for buoying me up in a time that I could not raise my head out of the water of life. I felt like I was drowning and there was no way out.

Thank you for your countless prayers and words of love and encouragement, they mean the world to us and we will be forever greatful. You are all true friends and loved ones.

Blessing day

So this day was kinds of interesting.
We had been putting off his blessing day for some reason... Oh yeah... Lance was supposed to set it up and he kept forgetting. So finally two Sundays before I left with the kids for a month we received a call and were able to ask the bishop if we could bless Lucas the Sunday before I left.

They said yes and got everything organized for it. Well Sunday came and we were planning on getting to church early so that we could make sure the bishopric remembered. But we got there right as church was starting...

This was the first mistake

THEN the opening song started and I told Lance that he needed to go up and tell them that they forgot to announce that we were blessing Lucas and he didn't want to. But with my persuasion skills he finally got up to go to the front... WELL he got the the pews to walk up and chickened OUT!! I was VERY frustrated. Then there were more announcements (blessing Lucas was NOT included) and then the bishop announced that we were going to do the sacrament... So Lance and I were arguing about him going up and telling them that we needed to bless our son and he just really didn't want to.

The thing is is that his blessing outfit was already VERY FITTED and I knew that it wouldn't fit if we waited to bless him after I got home in a MONTH! So finally I got VERY frustrated and Lance told me that I was overreacting and then told me to go up and tell the Bishop...

So, I did. (this was all during the sacrament song by the way)

Then after the sacrament the bishop gets up and says that "Sister Nethercott has just informed us that she they are blessing their son today so all the priesthood holders they have asked you can come up now"

WHAT THE CRAP! Seriously you were the ones that forgot! Oh well

Then my dear friend Amy wrote the blessing down for me. ( I was very grateful for because I was so flustered that I only heard about half of it)

In the end, all that mattered was that he was blessed. Lance DID give a good blessing and I am grateful for him.

New apartments = New fire codes and regulations...
In our apartments we have a very convenient red fire-pull that is at the same height
and right beside the light switches in our front room.
Our apartment tried to get the fire marshal to put a plastic covering over it
but he denied their request and said that in all his years as fire Marshal
he had never had a false alarm...
Well today is a first I guess; and a second for him

Devy and I were getting ready for the day when our smoke alarms started to go off.
Usually I just fan the alarm until it turns off. However 5 minutes later it was still going off
and my head was really starting to hurt!

So I go outside to get away from the noise and realize that my neighbors are outside as well.
I ask to see if they can hear our smoke alarm and then I am told that one of their kids
has pulled the fire alarm.

So... then we got to wait for the fire department to come and we got to see the cool firemen
in all of their get-up come with lights and alarm blazing to our apartment building.
They came turned the smoke alarms off and left.

Not even 7 hours later I was coming home from grocery shopping when I saw the same
fire truck at our next door building... Oops... Guess he should have let
our apartment put covers on the fire pulls. Oh well...

Yeah for tax-payer money well spent!...

If you haven't read this on my Facebook, here is the story on my blog:

July 9th
7:30 am: check in at Mercy hospital
7:40 am: No room in the inn... Seriously no beds were available since July is thier busiest month of babies
8:30 am: Check in to a room
9:00 am: Get IV placed (My nurse was amazing she got me the first poke and didn't have to dig around I love you Sandy!!!!)

9:30 am: Got the wonderful penicillin drip infused and my arm... Felt like it is going to burn off for the next 5 minutes (but only 5 minutes... unlike the 7 1/2 hours with my first delivery)

around 12:30 pm: Doctor Sandmeier (who is pregnant) breaks my water... It takes her about 5 minutes while she tells me that she has never had this hard of a time breaking someones water. Her words not mine: I think your placenta is reinforced... Me: when you do it you do it right (this is when we realized that all that walking did NOTHING to help break my water... my placenta was there to stay

2:30 pm: Still dilated to a 6 since 12:30 and am informed that I get pitocin or a c-section... I grudgingly accept the stupid drug

3:30 pm: my nurse offers an epidural and I say I think I can handle it for now so she turns up my pitocin drip and says that she has everything set up so if I decide that I want an epidural in two contractions it will be available

Two contractions later and a few colored words later: "Where the H*^^ is my nurse I want an epidural!!!!"

5 minutes later: Nurse is there with the anesthesiologist
2 minutes later: needle is in my back and I am being told that I can yell but I cant push or move
Two contractions later: Me to my anesthesiologist: "I love you"
My legs are numb and life is much much better

5:00pm: Blood pressure goes too low and I get some meds
15 minutes later: I am puking my guts out while Lance (literally 18 inches away from my face) munches on a Big Mac while playing a game on her computer
5 minutes later: Anti-nausea drugs kick in (I love modern medicine)

7:00 pm: I call in my nurse because I am feeling the urge to push
5 minutes later: Yep I'm at a ten and ready to push
5 minutes later: I start pushing ( I am then informed that I am a very good pusher especially for someone with a complete epidural... meaning I cant feel a thing and I have NO control over my legs... Im paralyzed from the waste down pretty much)
15 minutes later Dr. Booth comes in to see how I am doing and informs me that she has to go pee and she will be back in a couple of minutes
1 push later: my nurses are yelling at me to stop pushing
Doc runs in, the nurses set everything up for the grand entrance
7:30 pm and two pushes: Lucas Alfred Nethercott enters this grand world screaming and has a perfect Apgar rating 7 lbs 15 oz and 6 grams

Of course I cry and get to hold my beautiful baby boy. Yes he is a little swollen but who cares I know he is gorgeous underneath all that swelling and torpedoed headedness

A few weeks ago I bought some flip flops for Devy at a garage sale for only 1 dollar!! They are way cute but I had to figure out a way to keep them on her feet.

I had to sew the elastic on the shoes and now she wears them ALL THE TIME! She loves them and I love that they are way easy to put on!

One of my friends hosted a Cinco De Mayo party and there were quite a few people that showed up. There were burritos with those you-cook shells! They were AMAZING! The meat was soo good. There was a TON of food and a pinata for the little kids! We all had a lot of fun.

29 Weeks

29 weeks!!

So... I know that I am 30 weeks and 4 days but here is the latest.
My life so far...
I love being pregnant... Yes I do! Really! I know I am sick a lot and tired A LOT and I have weird cravings... But it comes with the territory. Granted I DID NOT like the morning sickness but other than that I really enjoy feeling a little life inside of me. I really enjoy bonding with this little guy and knowing that one day he will be my official son! I am so excited to kiss his little face and and will play all day.

He will bring SO MUCH joy to our family. As CRAZY as it sounds, I am SO excited to have a "little Lance" running around our house. He was SUCH a cute little guy and from our ultrasound our little Lucas looks exactly like his Daddy. (Go figure right?) Our daughter doesn't even look like me though so it is to be expected. I definitely don't have the dominant genes here...

Also I am so happy to announce that I have solved the problem of neighbors that still have their kid in their bedroom that keeps me up all night (nothing against them, I am just a REALLY REALLY light sleeper) and the STINKIN BIRDS that chirp right outside me STINKIN window starting at 4 am. Yes and they chirp ALL DAY! SERIOUSLY PEOPLE if I wasn't afraid of guns or if we had bullets for the one Lance owns I would have shot them!

But good thing it didn't have to come to that since.... drum roll please... I bought EAR PLUGS!!!
AMAZING!!! I have never had much luck with ear plugs but I guess the ones I bought really do work! I didn't hear the baby OR the birds last night or this morning. It was great to actually sleep through the night (until Lance's alarm clock went on at 5am and then every 5 minutes after that...) By that time, one have fallen out and so I had my ear on the pillow that didn't have the earplug in...

A couple weeks ago Devy and I went to Pella with a group of girls from my apartment complex. People kept stopping us and asked if we were there for a child competition or something. It was really funny. We got there right as Devy was supposed to go down for a nap so that is why she isn't smiling in any of them. Oh well, it was still fun!

For those of you who don't know, Pella was settled by the Dutch and so the little town is full of pretty windmills and fun little dutch shops. The town has a 3 day festival called the Tulip festival and the whole town is FULL of gorgeous tulips. We were able to take some pictures and eat some yummy Dutch treats.

So lately I have felt REALLY REALLY REALLY lonely... But I know that it comes with the territory of being a wife to a medical student. So maybe this will help others or maybe your husband is home all the time and you have no idea why I am whining...

If you are one of the latter, keep it to yourself nobody likes to hear a bragger.

So here is my "journal entry" of my missing my husband:
First lets start out with the good... I love my life. I really do! I love being mother to a feisty 20 month old and I am really enjoying pregnancy. I love love LOVE my nieghbors and friends who help to keep the sadness at bay (thank you girls you know who you are are you SERIOUSLY keep me sane)

However, I still miss my husband. I caught myself smelling one of his shirts the other day (it smelled like his cologne, not stinky body because we all know I would have thrown up instead of reminisced) Nothing can replace him. I know we drive each other CRAZY sometimes and half the time he is home I don't know what to do with him since I am so used to him being gone. But I do miss him.

It is hard not to be frustrated when you have only spent a total of two hours (awake) with your spouse in the last 6 days...

I have tried all the old tricks in trying NOT to miss him but they all FAILED miserably! Seriously it just made it worse I think. I tired the not thinking about it, the thinking that it is okay to be alone "who needs a man anyway... right? WRONG!!", the not caring if he is gone (meaning emotionally distancing myself so it doesn't hurt as bad when he doesn't get home till 1 am for 3 weeks straight), I think that one was the worst ever... and others that just don't work.

I have realized that yes it hurts to say goodbye, and yes it is sad to eat dinner without him, and yes it is sad when your daughter runs to the window when "daddy is supposed to come home" (I seriously don't know how she knows this) and points to cars driving by and asks "daddy?", or when we sit down for dinner and she says one of her first two words sentences of "daddy home?", and finally every time she passes our bedroom door she looks in and asks for daddy (this is because if Lance IS home when Devy is awake, he is always sleeping... and so on and so on

However I try to remind myself it is STILL VERY IMPORTANT to keep us both happy in our marriage. I do love him and I think that is why I miss him so much. I love him and miss his presence in our home.

I guess I just have to keep reminding myself: THIS IS TEMPORARY

The other day Devy and I had some friends over. The girls had a ton of fun trying on the colorful sunglasses that Devy got for Easter. Way cute Shaylee, Camille, and Devy!

Her hair is LONG ENOUGH!! I decided to try putting Devy's hair in pigtails... IT WORKED!! She kept them in all day! I just had to remind her just to touch and not pull.

Later yesterday we went to a birthday party! It was her friend Blake's 2nd birthday and he threw a "Go Diego Go" party. They had headbands that Chelsea MADE! and here Devy is coloring her vest

She actually let me put it on her for about a minute and then she didn't want to wear it anymore! I'm glad I got a picture though! Great idea Chels!!

If that wasn't enough, there was also a pinata!! The kids had fun hitting it with the bat

I am 27 weeks along now. We are having a boy. We have decided to name him Lucas Alfred. We are soo excited! I think Devy is too. Every time she sees a baby, especially baby boys for some reason, she wants to mommy them and play. She is soo stinkin cute!!

I have also recently decided to just give up being so frugal that I feel like I am being left out of all the fun... So I am now in the process of getting a gym membership at the Y and I have been working out there for the last week. I LOVE IT!! I LOVE working out! I LOVE helping people and giving them new ideas to add their workouts! I love looking at myself in the mirror and knowing that I am doing something good for myself and my baby! Why didn't I get a membership earlier you ask. Well I was too cheap and we didn't have any money... But now that I know that Lance will be getting a job this summer, I am not going to deprive myself of happiness anymore. And I want to get a job there after we have Lucas. I probably wont do the Personal Trainer route because I don't want to work that hard... lol So I think that I am going to try and get a job in the child care so that I can play with my own kids (and others of course) while getting paid for it! Sounds like an amazing job to me...

Just as a note... these are my views and my views alone. If you are offended, it is probably because I am not proficient enough in what I was trying to portray as my views and I am sorry that I proficient in the English language enough to say what I would like to so that everyone gets what I am saying or understands my thought processes. I am human and so are you. We all could be a little better at something in our lives.

I was browsing through people's facebooks tonight and was reading to catch up on old friends lives when I came across a video about our government pretty much "going to crap."

It was of a few prophets of my church that I belong to, and strongly believe in, predicting our government's "collapse." I thought it was an interesting video but didn't think it was anything new. I guess since I have been hearing this since I was very little I have just thought, well these are hard times and hard times call for us to step up as a people and become ready. Become ready as a family, as a spiritual individual, as a community, and a whole.

I then scrolled down to read what other people had commented on her video she posted and was surprised (but not really) about how others try to explain away what these men of God have said. They try to refute what these men are saying (which by the way is directly from God so good luck with that) and call them false prophets. I think it interesting that how they do this is by attacking the men directly or personally (he "looks" scary...Seriously that was the best you could come up with?) hmm this is probably because you cant fight the truth so you try and go around it...

However, then I thought about how this shouldn't surprise or upset me. Reason being, I know what I believe is true. I believe in a Savior who died for me and everyone AND I believe that God has appointed righteous men to speak as His mouthpiece to us this day. Why wouldn't I listen and believe right?

I also thought about since the beginning of time there have been people that "try" and refute what righteous men (appointed by God) are trying to tell people in their time. Look at the scriptures. History repeats itself. But, sadly, these people wont get it until the truth is staring them in the face and they realize what they were trying to fight against was the truth. Good luck "drawing the fog over your eyes" or "kicking against the pricks" the truth will come out in the end.

Okay so I am soo lame and brought my camera but didn't take any pictures of either of these events!! sad huh!

But this is was fun!

There wasn't a lot to do so I really looked forward to the end of the week. On Saturday day Jessica Johnson threw me and 4 other girls a baby shower. It was really fun! Everyone brought hand-me-down clothes from thier previous kids! Which is totally awesome because we got a TON of clothes! Thanks girls!!

Then that night Lance and I went on a group date with a few other couples that do the date night thing. We went and played miniature golf. I acutally didn't pay to golf because it isn't really my thing... I just get really bore really fast. BUT it worked out great because our friends Andy and Amy Evans went and Amy got bored too and she was busy taking care of thier little angel Ava. So I actually got to hit a few balls and it turned out to be pretty fun. Thanks for the great idea Carrie and Troy!!

We are all dressed up for a night on the town. Lance's school holds a "formal" dance once a year for all the students. It was pretty fun to see everyone and meet some of Lance's classmates. Next year though we wont go out to dinner so late and maybe actually get to dance before we have to leave to pick Devy up from the babysitters.

This is me Sunday night in the PJs and remembered I hadn't taken a 20 weeks photo yet... sorry for the sweats. But definitely not sorry for the cute little face on the bottom right hand corner. She is turning into a little cheeseball. LOVE HER!!

We had our ultrasound yesterday and found out that we are having a baby boy! We even got to see him in 4D and he SERIOUSLY already looks like Lance!!! I am sooooooo excited!! He is also a lot less mobile than Devy was. He doesn't have to need to kick back at me when I push on his little space he has, but I am so so so soooo much bigger (showing wise) with him than I was with the Devers. We are ecstatic that we are having a baby boy. I have to admit I am a little nervous but I think I will be a good mom to a boy right? I have never really experienced little boys or living with them since I have been raised around women my whole life... I am excited to learn though.

Once I can figure it out I will put up a couple of pictures of our little one's ultrasound. Right now we are leaning towards Lucas Alfred Nethercott. I really like Jaken Alfred too but what can you do when your husband doesn't like it... Beg and hope I guess... I still have 4 months to convince him it is a good name.

So I decided that I needed a change in my life. Maybe it was because I am getting bigger and my blond highlights roots were now 6 inches... and I didn't want to pay the money to get them touched up... yes I am a cheepwad... anywho

So what did I do? Well I went to Walmart bought a box of dye for 2 bucks and had my friend Jessica dye my hair. It actually turned out WAY darker than this. This is after 3 washes. But at first my hair was almost BLACK!! I was a little scared. I am starting to like the lighter color though so it was a good choice.

Then a few days later I was not feeling too good about the hair because it was STILL VERY unhealthy because, after an enlightening conversation with the lovely sister Leslie, I hadn't cut my hair since I was 5 months pregnant with DEVY!! That is almost TWO YEARS!! I couldn't believe it. So Les convinced me, somehow, that it would be this GREAT idea to get those really cute trendy bangs "all the cool girls have" lol... I don't know why I let her talk me into them... Oh wait yeah I do... It's because she is a fashion guru and I should always listen to her! DUH! lol.

So, I made an appointment... all in all I got a total of 3 inches cut off and new bangs. At first I didn't know what to think about them... I felt like a 5 year old with a new-school-year hair cut. But after a couple of days I think I have finally accepted them into my face family and they are starting to grow on me. A lot of people have seen me and not recognized me or they have (for a split second) wondered to Lance's new girlfriend was lol...

It has also helped that everyone I see (the girls anyway) have told me that they LOVE me new bangs and that they are way cute. So I think I will give them a couple more days and if I still like them I guess they wont be banished to a hair clip on top of my head.

Right after I got home from the new hair cut. I didn't know if I liked it yet... At this moment it was a love/hate relationship every other time I looked at them in the mirror

Sorry to say Lance had a really lame 26th this year. His birthday was on a Sunday I believe and he of course had a test the next day... So I actually didn't get to spend any time with him at all. He also had already gotten his present for himself like a month ago so I had nothing to wrap up for him... yeah I am lame.

Anyway, I wasn't feeling too good this week since I was trying to get over a really really really bad cold so instead of making him a cake I went to the store and bought angel food cake, strawberries, and whipping cream. Happy birthday babe! Some day we will look back on our birthdays throughout these years and just laugh and say "those were the good times" I love you Lance.

I am now 15 1/2 weeks along.
I am starting to feel a little better. I am still sick everyday but the bad fades in and out throughout the day. That I can deal with. This way I actually have something good to look forward to if I feel like death.

Anywho, we are doing great!! Lance is now officially in his second semester of Medical School at Des Moines University. School is REALLY hard and he studies SOOOO SOOOO much. When it is getting close to a test day he usually leaves at 7:15 am and gets home around 12:30 am. So he usually doesn't see me or Devy very conscious during those times.

Last semester they had about one test a week; and this semester he has a lot more than that. For example this next week he has a test on Tuesday and a test on Friday; then the next week he has two tests on Monday and then a test on Thursday for Friday. Needless to say we will say goodbye to Lance tomorrow morning in hopes that he is still alive in two weeks.

I was looking at his schedule and that seems pretty typical for the rest of the semester. So I think we will just have to cherish the few moments we get and hope for the best.

I am so glad that we planned to have this baby in July because that means we will have a month to really prepare for baby and then a month to get into the swing of things before he starts his second year of school.

P.S. I also realized that his semesters are 5 months long and in one year he will have taken 50 credits... try and just wrap your mind around that one.

Today I went to the OBGYN and had the "wonderful" exam. This doctor doesn't do 8 week ultrasounds like my old doctor. So today I was able to listen to the heartbeat. It took the doctor a little bit to find it since the heart beat was way over to the right side of my abdomen. It was awesome though! We kept finding my heartbeat but then it happened! The beautiful sound of a fast little heart beat. I love this baby already.

I am excited to have another little body in our home. This baby (I know) will bring so much happiness and joy. I cant wait to have another happy little giggle running around. I love my life

These doors are almost completely covered

The garages across from my front door. That is my neighbors daughter crawling across the snow since she kept falling through up to her hip. I heard something scraping my front door so I opened it and she was digging us out. She is so nice. Thanks Blasi!

The snow was halfway up our door and Blasi dug us out. She said that she likes to do it. As you can see, our shovel is buried...

So school is canceled and we are pretty much stuck in our houses. As you can see it is pretty piled up. Yesterday it snowed about 12 inches or more yesterday (Lance says only 10) So it was pretty rough. It literally snowed all day.

Anyway, today it hasn't snowed BUT the winds are so strong and the snow drifts are large that they are telling people not to leave their houses! (and lance just came down stairs to ask if her could go get some pizza...) As you can see the snow drifts in front of our windows are about 4 feet up. Our neighbors is a little higher but it is right in front of their door, and a building down if you look really closely at the second picture all the way to the right, you can see that their front door is pretty much all the way covered.

While I was outside for 5 minutes, I was only able to take 5 pictures because the camera froze. It was crazy and VERY windy!

This week Devy has started talking so much! Everyday I am surprised with the amount of things she is picking up. Just this week, she has started saying: happy, doggy, she barks like a dog, and then I just asked her to get the wipes for me and she DID IT!! I was so surprised! She is so smart!

New Moon Movie

There is s group of us girls that try to do a "girl's night" once a month. To celebrate mine and Jessica Johnson's birthdays we decided to go to the New Moon movie. It was very good and we all were sad to see the movie end. As you can see, we had made Shirts. They consisted of sayings like: I like my men cold, dead, and sparkly; My boyfriends a vampire, team Jacob and team Edward: I want both; I like my men sparkly and other things like that.

We thought that it was going to be as crazy as it is in Utah and Idaho, but we guessed wrong. We showed up 3 hours early to eat dinner and there was no one in line. Finally an hour and a half before we decided to get in line anyway even though there wasnt anyone in line for the movie. We ended up just sitting down in a group and hang out until they let us in. lol. Oh well. At least we got the seats we wanted.

My friend and neighbor Blasina heart attacked my door for my birthday and then she threw me a surprise birthday lunch with other girls. It was great and she made me feel really special. She is a great person.

This is of my birthday. Lance had a huge test the day before so we celebrated on the 17th instead of the 18th. It was really nice since I got to spend a lot of the day with him. He actually got home way early at 2pm and then we dropped Devy off at our friend's house at 4. Since I wasn't feeling very good (Morning sickness) I decided I didn't want to go to dinner and a movie. So we went to Walmart and got some cheesecake and a pizza. I really wanted a maple donut but surprisingly Walmart didn't carry even one single maple donut, so I opted for a quarter cheesecake with 4 different flavored pieces of cheesecake.

All in all it was fun and we had a fun time eating cheesecake and watching the movie Up.
I actually had never heard of it until Lance said that one of his friends watched it and liked it. So we bought it. I was really surprised at the beginning because it didn't seem like a kid's movie to me. It was good though and I think I cried like 3 times. Good movie though.

One Saturday Devy and I and some of our friends went to a nearby elementary school and played on their kindergarten playground. It is pretty cool because this school has two different playgrounds. Then we went to the bigger one for bigger kids and Devy swung on the funny looking red swing. It was fun!

So, Devy loves to get into the cupboards and take EVERYTHING out. So I usually restock the shelves 2 or three times a day. It used to get really frustrated but this was just so amazing that I couldn't get mad. I had to take a picture.

She was only 13 months when she did this. I was cleaning the living room and Devy had been really quiet; because of this I knew I should go looking for her. I walked into the kitchen to see the damage and this is what I saw. I couldn't believe my eyes that she was stacking cans. It was crazy! I think I should get her some building blocks.

Kristine made these cute little "witches brooms" full of caramel popcorn! It was soo cute and soo good! Yes I did eat it all in one day! I couldnt help it. One day I hope to be as creative.

There are a few other girls that I go for walks with just about every day. We like to do it because we get some girl talk and exercise. Its fun.

Devy loves it and we both enjoy getting outside.

We had a girl in our ward take our family pictures. Devy was in a really bad mood the whole time and I was delightfully surprised that Mary got some of her smiling. She is amazing and worth every penny!

Huggies versus Pampers, size 3 versus size 4s

UG!!
I have been having the hardest time trying to find the perfect brand and size for Devy! And I only find out when I have already spent 20 bucks on a box of diapers and then have to go through poop on clothes for two weeks... I finally found a right fit for her! Huggies size 4! Pampers could not even hold her "stuff" in! So I resorted to huggies (even though they are a little more expensive) size 4.

Then the other day I was at a play group with a few girls and their girls in my complex and she has two year old twins that are still in size 3. HMMM I think maybe Devy can handle size 3 since she is sooo much younger! My gut tells me NO but I do it anyway... CRAP literally EVERYWHERE! I now have to change her diaper almost every hour! Okay its not that bad but if I let a little poo sit for even a few falling downs and crawling arounds then there is poop on her clothes!

So now I have accepted that I HAVE to buy the bigger diapers and suck it up. It is NOT about the weight of your kid it is about the QUANTITY of their "outings"

Devy is totally going to hate me when I show this to one of her boyfriends in 16 years...

Devy started walking at 11.5 months and she has gotten sooo stable.
She rarely falls and so many people are so suprised that she is so
good at walking already! I think it's because she is SOO strong!

White Coat Ceremony

Lance had his "White Coat Ceremony" last week to celebrate him becoming a doctor in 7 years...
I had to sit in the nosebleed section because Lance thought that leaving 30 before we had to be there would be a good idea... Yeah it was a fiasco. I finally had to drop him off at the entrance and then drive around till I found a parking spot. There was a cop that when I found a spot he told me I had to move and then sat in the intersection until I MOVED! It was really annoying. Then I drove around the block only to see 3 cars parked where I was told specifically NOT to. Anyway, I ended up not caring if I had to pay for parking and parked in a parking garage and then after the4 ceremony was over found out that parking is free on the weekends... If only I knew that I would have not driven around for 40 minutes looking for a free place to park... Oh well.

The ceremony was nice and it was actually a blessing that we sat where we did because there was carpet and Devy got to run back and forth while I "listened" to the ceremony. It was funny because it was like graduation but they just put their coats on and then had to sign their "honor code" Yeah right. It said to dress professionally and some girls were wearing mini skirts so short lance was afraid to look at them. A lot different than BYU Idaho I will tell you that. It was cool though. I got to meet some more girls that are going through the same thing with thier husbands with Podiatry school and we made promises to hang out with each other. I love making friends and EVERYONE is soo nice!

At first Devy didn't know what to think about the sand and then she decided that it was okay. Then I thought hey maybe she will like the water. Once in, she was a maniac! She kept trying to go deeper than her little legs could reach! It was so much fun to watch and play with her in the water. I just wish I would have gotten some pictures of her with her daddy! They had a ton of fun!

So the day we move in we meet about 15 families that are also first to 3rd year students. Everyone was very nice and wanted to get to know the new comers. We were invited to dinner the first night with our neighbors and the second night with our other neighbors. It was great! We then were invited to a get to know each other thing at this park. I never felt out of my comfort zone since everyone was so including! I love it here!!

It was a 3.5 hour ride, but it was totally worth it
the entertainment was great (Brent and Ivy getting a little tipsy)

This is the pyramid at the ruins, it was way cool becuase everywhere you went in these ruins you could yell or clap and it would echo back to you just as loud. This was made one of the world wonders last year so sadly we could now climb on it.

This is the "sports arena" it was a silent game kind of like soccer and basketball combined. No one could talk except for the high priests not the opposite sides of the field. the accoustics were so good that they could talk in normal talking voices and hear each other all the way from where this picture is taken to that far building at the other end. (that is the back of Bryan's head with his video camera)

At the beginning of the trip they take you picture and then as you are getting on the bus to go home they give you these taquila bottles with you picture taped to the front of it with chichan itza on it as well. Funny no way were we going to spend 24 bucks on these... ha ha

It was so funny we atleast had to take a picture with them. Lance is holding one with my mom's pic on it

This was a spider in the rest stop on our way.
It was really really gross and HUGE

We made a stop on our way to Chi Chan Itza at a cenote which was SOOOO AWESOME
We are at the top of the cenote where the ground has sunk into the water
They stopped measuring how deep this thing was at 150 METERS!
